Stellar (iTunes Exclusive) – When the song first starts out with the guitar riff it “almost” sounds like it was written for Corgan’s solo album, but once the song starts to pick up it starts to sound like a Pumpkin song. The song features beautiful guitar effects and a decent rhythm.
Death From Above (Best Buy Exclusive) – This is a song that I am glad didn’t make the final cut onto the album. It sounds like some 90’s pop/dance song rather than a Smashing Pumpkins song. It isn’t as bad as some songs they have put out that try to be upbeat but it sure isn’t no 1979
Zeitgeist (Target Exclusive) – The only track released so far that feature only Corgan on an acoustic guitar. Usually these kinds of songs are kind weak and boring, but Zeitgeist is a good song. I wish they left this song on the album and made it the closing track behind Pomp And Circumstances as the Target version did with all the releases. It’s got a catchy chorus “Lost on this road/are there any real Sundays to find?/lost on this road are there any real souls?”
Overall the only really good track of the three is the Target exclusive “Zeitgeist”. In concert the Smashing Pumpkins have been known to play a song that runs about 15-20 minutes titled Gossamer. I was/am hoping this song finds its way as a b-side on a future single release.
