Terminator: Dark Fate

My spoiler-free review + thoughts about Terminator Dark Fate: I do agree with what critics are saying that this is the best sequel since T2. This movie serves as a direct sequel to T2 ignoring all events from T3-T5. Dark Fate starts in 1998 with Sarah and John Connor looking exactly like they did in Terminator 2. The movie jumps to 2020 with the arrival of a new Terminator and Protector to save this time lines version of Sarah/John Connor. SkyNet was never built, there was no Judgment Day. However a new A.I threat as created and also sends its own versions of Terminators to hunt humans. Linda Hamilton returns to play her iconic role as Sarah Connor for the first time since 1991’s T2. Her inclusion and story for this new movie is done really well. She is the highlight of the movie and in my opinion outshines Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 Model 101 character. This movie could have done without Arnold but his inclusion was a nice touch, even though that’s where my issues about this movie begins. There are so many unanswered questions about how Arnold’s “Carl” character knows certain information about events that happen in the present, future and past. I would love to say more about my problems with the movie’s storyline but I don’t want to give away any spoilers. I do highly recommend this movie. I don’t think there will be a sequel to this film. It does leave itself open for one but it would feel too much like the plot of Terminator 2. “For John”.
