Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was very disappointing. Instead of focusing on a main plot, there are 4 or 5 different storylines that felt rushed and poorly written. Trailers for the film feature and talk about Beetlejuice’s ex wife thinking that will be an important and exciting plot, but it goes no where and is resolved quickly just as with the other storylines. One storyline which focuses on the father of Lydia and husband of Delia from the original film left a bad taste in my mouth. The actor was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and for soliciting a 14 year old boy. He is a disgusting human being and should not be remembered but yet they bring up his character many times and is the focus of one of the storylines, while yet the married couple who were the focus of the original film are mentioned just once! The character Beetlejuice in my opinion felt like he was given heavy doses of Ritalin to calm him down. He was not as funny, edgy and exciting as he was in the first movie, and just like the first film he only appears for less than 18 minutes of screen time. Overall the movie did do one thing right, it made me want to go home and watch the original and remind me how great and funny Beetlejuice is and will always be a classic. It’s just too bad Beetlejuice Beetlejuice won’t ever be worthy of a second viewing.
